Reporting
VDHA Dog Handler Deaths
By
Dave Broeker
Webmaster
In an effort to alert our VDHA membership sooner, of Dog Handlers that were REPORTED as
deceased, regardless of the actual year they died, I have decided to list
'TAPS' names differently.
Starting immediately, as soon as I receive notice of any dog handler(s)
death, I will be adding their name(s) to the home page of the VDHA website, under 'TAPS'.
Initially, their names will be 'BLACK' in color and list no other
information.
As information is received on any dog handler, it will be stored in a folder until
all the information is considered complete enough to post.
Names listed in BOLD BROWN are
complete enough to post and their name(s) is/are linked to their VDHA Profile 'BIOGRAPHY/OBITUARY'
page. These are all viewable by the membership.
Names will NOT be processed in the order they are received. Names
with PENDING FUNERALS ALWAYS have Top Priority,
followed by names with Upcoming Memorial Celebrations.
We do this because it allows us to mass e-mail information to VDHA Members, living within a moderate vicinity of the deceased, so they can be informed and possibly attend the Funeral or Memorial Celebration
All
other names will be processed in the order they are received.
Names will remain on this list for up to 6 months at which time they will be
removed to make room for more additions.
I receive many names of Deceased Dog Handlers & Dogs with their 'Tattoos'
who have fallen through the cracks, never to be heard from again. It is
our obligation and we are honored to make sure these Dog Handler's and their
Dogs are listed with their Units.
Any Dog Handler who is not already or has ever been a VDHA member,
automatically becomes a new member posthumously. This is done in an
effort to honor these lost dog handlers.
When posting a death, PLEASE include as much information as you can find to
include Obituary Listings and/or Internet Links, photos, DOD and DOB, etc.
Thanks for your help,
Dave
