Biography: I volunteered for the draft when I turned 18 and went to Fort Lewis for basic and Infantry AIT. Then on to NCO Candidate school at Fort Benning. I then volunteered for scout dog school (26th IPSD) and trained with the Marines for 20 weeks on/off leash (class 9-70) with a dog named Kaiser 977A. Ended up in the 49th IPSD in Vietnam and was given a dog named King and later reassigned to the 25th IPSD. I returned home and later served 7 years in SD National Guard (1085th helicopter medivac unit). I just retired on 1/11/14 with 32 years with the Defense Commissary Agency, EAFB,SD. as a meat cutter.
