Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Sean E. Brazas, 26, of Greensboro, N.C., was shot on May 30 while trying to help a fellow service member get into a helicopter. His death occurred in Kandahar Province. His dog, Sicario, was not injured.
Sean E. Brazas had been in Afghanistan only four weeks. He had been assigned to Naval Base Kitsap Security Detachment in Bremerton, Wash.
His wife, Allie, said Brazas loved his job. “My husband died serving his country....We will never forget him. He is my hero.” They had a 13-year-old daughter.
He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery with his grandfather, a World War II veteran.
