Obituary:

William was born on December 14, 1946 and passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016.  He was a resident of Saranac Lake, New York at the time of his passing.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War from July 14, 1966 to March 19, 1969.  He trained at the USAF Policeman Dog Sentry School from Feb to June 1967, assigned as a US Navy Corpsman with the US Marine Corps 3rd Division 5th Combat Battalion at Marble Mt. from 1967 to 1969.  He was later assigned to Camp Lejeune at Hadnot Point US Navy Hospital.  During that time he attended Class 'A' Hospital Corps School and Class 'C' Field Med Service School.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.  Bill was proud of his military service and the close bond he had with his military dog, Falk-95X7.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 20, 2016 at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating.   Burial will follow at Harriestown Cemetery in Saranac Lake with full military honors.  A reception will follow at Mt. Pisgah Ski Lodge.
