Visual Tracker on a Combat Tracker Team. 1st team with James Burr as Team Leader with myself as the Visual Tracker and Carlos Alverez the Cover Man. James Burr also doubled as Dog Handler. The dog member of this team was Sam. We called him Sam and never called him anything else, but, I am told his name was Sambo. The second team I was on consisted of (at first) Myself as Visual Tracker and Team Leader, Carlos Alverez as Cover Man and Bill Casey, Dog Handler with Boy as the dog member of the team. We also had a Kid Carson Scout who was Cambodian named Kim. After several months Steven Barton joined the team as Visual Tracker. We were with the 62nd Combat Tracker attached to the First Cav, 1/9th. Lt. Ken Besecker was our CO most of the time we were there. Lt. Howard Pain took us over after LT left the unit. Steven, Bill and myself have met many times in the past 10 years, several times all together. The search we have done on Carlos only gives us that he passed away in 1982. James Burr has been found, but now has been lost again.
