Biography: Peter NELSON Obituary
Age
78, of Fort Worth, Texas Passed away on June 5, 2023, with his wife, Cynthia
(Pletan), by his side. Peter and Cyndy were married in 1968. Peter served in
Vietnam from 1968-69 as a sergeant and Scout Dog Handler with the 1st Cavalry
Division (Airmobile) where he was awarded a Bronze Star and an Air Medal. Peter
and Cyndy raised their family in the St. Paul Mounds Park neighborhood from
1970-83. He worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and retired in
2005 after 36 years. His work moved his family out of Minnesota to Kansas,
Washington State, and Texas. In addition to his railroad vocation, Peter
enjoyed working on his in-laws' farm (Kenneth and Myrtle Pletan) near Wendell,
MN, during harvest season. Peter is survived by his wife, Cyndy; their children
Darryl (Ashley), Laralynn (Edward), Peter J. (Melissa) and Andrew; their 10
grandchildren; his siblings June, Margaret, Noreen, George and Sonja; and many
nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by their daughter, Melissa
Anne, and his parents, Walfred Nelson and Hilda (Steen) Nelson Rucci. A
memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11 a.m. in
person and online at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7620 Baker Blvd., Richland Hills,
TX, 76118. Blessed be the memory of Peter Nelson.
