Biography:

Theodore enlisted in the United States Army 10 July 1946 at age eighteen. Served with 20th Inf. Regt., 6th Div. in occupied South Korea. Enlisted as a Sgt. in the Infantry Reserve April 1948. Awarded WW II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Theodore was recalled to active service 18 Oct 1950 and had refresher training at Fort Campbell, KY. Fought with “Charlie” Company, 7th Regt., 1st Cavalry Div. From 25 Dec 1950 until such time he joined a K-9 unit being assembled “In Country” by T/Sgt. Guy C. Sheldon. Theodore served as dog handler and eventually was promoted to S/Sgt. when he served as platoon sergeant of his K-9 Unit assigned to the Hq. & Hq. Co., 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. Awarded the Korean Service Medal W/3 Bronze Service Stars and on 8 Jan 1951 received the CIB. K-9 Judy was purchased by Theodore for $20.00 military script from a Metropolitan Policeman in Seoul, Korea. She was trained to a high degree and served in all capacities. She was wounded by friendly artillery fire, played the major role in the capture of a Chinese soldier, provided her unit with replacements (six) and ultimately gave the supreme sacrifice for her country.
