Drafted: Term of service 03/03/69-01/26/71. After A.I.T went to Shake&Bake School for about 3 weeks, worse than basic training so dropped out and was waiting for orders to Vietnam. Signed up for Dog Handlers school @ Ft Benning and realized it was the best thing I ever did. Have been a dog lover all my life and soon discovered how loyal and devoted the Dogs were. Sent to Pleiku/An Khe in January 1970 and served until a sniper decided to make me his target (July 19), I was in several Hospitals and was discharged from the Army (Valley Forge General Hospital) in January 1971. It took me awhile to get back to work and perform my job but was employed at DTE(Detroit Edison) Computer Operations for almost 34 years. Took early retirement and went back to what I really enjoyed, worked part time at a Animal Hospital/Kennel for a few years. Some recent health issues have convinced me to be 100% retired. Married with 2 grown boys 1 living in Clinton Twp Mi the other now in Kenosha Wisc. In May of 2015 my first grandchild arrived, not sure how we made it this far without him!!!!Grandson #2 arrived May 02,2017. Have been dealing with ALS now for 6 years Feb 08,2016, slowly taking me down but the VA has been there for me since day 1
