Biography:
i was wia on 27 jan. 1969. i believe the operation may have been called "operation rice farmer". spencer dixon, also a handler in the 43rd. was wia the next day on the same op.in a different location. i was med-evac'd to dong tam and quickly flown to tan son nhut air base for surgery. two days later iwas flown to japan. more surgery. two weeks after that they flew me home. there was a stop at travis air base for three days. my sutures were removed and they served steak and eggs on arrival. air sickness spoiled that breakfast. after a short stay i was flown again to ft. ord in beautiful monterey california. here my military career ended with more surgery and convalesence. i was medically retired and sent home. my last day in the army was nov. 24, 1969. the army rated me 80% disabled; the va rated me 70% disabled. i chose to be retired army because the ret. pay was more than the va comp. including the k award. i'll add more to my bio. later.
