Obituary:
Edward
Roy Bennett, 70, of Mtn. Lake Park died on Friday, October 30, 2015 at his
home. Born on June 15, 1945 in
Harrisonburg, VA, he was the step-son of Mike Rhodes of Mtn. Lake Park and the late
Beatrice Rhodes.
Ed was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp having bravely served
in Vietnam as a Marine Sentry Dog Handler, handling Sentry Dog Carey-77A1 in
1966 and 1967. He was a member of the Iron-workers and Laborers Union. In addition to spending time with his sons,
he enjoyed riding his Harley.
In addition to his father, he is survived by three sons, Darwin Bennett, Shawn
Bennett and Derek Bennett, all of Garrett County, and three nephews, Mark
Bennett, Steve Bennett and Raymond "Dick" Bennett.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Mary
Ann Brode.
Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd
St., Oakland on Monday, November 2nd from 4 to 7 PM.
According to his wishes, Ed will be cremated after visitation. Interment with service will take place in
Rocky Gap Veteran's Cemetery on Wednesday, November 4th at 12:00 PM with
Rev. Ivan Ackerman officiating. |
