Dave, below is
the info you requested. It's all I can remember and I hope this
will suffice. Thanks, Joe Damiata
I went to Vietnam around March 1, 1966. I was an MP in Quin Nhon
for a couple of months when openings for sentry dog handler's school came
up. Some buddies and I went to Okinawa to train for approximately one
month and then we went back to Vietnam in various locations. My dog's
name was Duke, a gray with black saddle German Shepherd. I don't remember his
number. I was his third handler as far as I know. I ended up
with the 212th MP Co, Dog Handler's in Ban Me Thout providing security for 155/165
Aviation Co's. I don't remember our detachment number. It was a
long time ago. This was about July 1, 1966. I was there until the
end of February, 1967 when I came back to the states. I then went to Ft
Rucker, Alabama and spent my last six months as an MP with the 141st MP
Co. Any other questions, please contact me.
Thanks, Joe Damiata
