Biography:

William "David" Eckard Obituary

Mr. William “David” Eckard passed away at the age of 74 on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at his residence with his beloved wife, Marie by his side. David resided in Mooresboro, but was a native of McDowell County. He was born on May 26, 1950 to the late Frank Eckard and Ethel Moody Eckard.

Also, preceding David in death are his brother, Carroll Eckard; and sisters, Ann Kuczkawski, Marie Anderson, and Patricia Bentley.

David dedicated his life to service and was known for his unwavering devotion to his family and country. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and later with the United States Customs as a K9 handler. His love for dogs and his commitment to his work were evident in all he did. David was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the K9 Handlers Association.

David will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family and four-legged companions. He leaves behind a legacy of honor and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Surviving David are his wife, Marie Kane Eckard; stepson, Kyle Yudkowsky of Forest City; sisters, Thelma Biddix (Grant) and Connie Spencer both of Marion; and brother Edward Eckard of Georgia

A graveside service will be held  at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery where honors will be provided by the United State Air Force and will be announced when finalized.
